T.I. ft. Lil Wayne – “Wit Me” [LISTEN]

Historically, T.I. and Lil Wayne collaborations are very solid. They added another to the cannon with “Ball” in 2012, and return today with a jamming record called “Wit Me.”

Fans received a sampling when the song was previewed last week. It’s apparent that the duo aims for summer anthem status now that hear the record in its entirety. The Kang and Weezy take a beat with hypnotic synths and bouncy drums to task, and do a solid job trading potent bars in the process.

“Wit Me” will promote T.I. and Wayne’s upcoming “America’s Most Wanted” Music Festival, which has seen a few changes since the initial announcement of the show bill. Most notably, Future has been replaced by 2 Chainz and French Montana.

In an interview with MTV, Tip explained that there was no love lost for the “Karate Chop” rapper. “It was Future, something happened and Future pulled — he disassociated himself from the tour for whatever reason, and it’s still love — ain’t no problem with that. Now Chainz on there.”

Expect a visual treatment for “Wit Me” to premiere tonight at 10 p.m. EST on VEVO, as the song will be available on iTunes at midnight.

Future Says Lil Wayne Brought “Positive Energy” To Emmett Till’s Story

Sometimes it’s best not to try to defend the indefensible. While on Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Power 106 in Los Angeles on Tuesday (May 14), Future was asked for his thoughts on the “Karate Chop (Remix)” controversy. According to Future, Lil Wayne brought “positive energy” to Emmett Till’s story. For real.

“I think overall with the whole situation, he did bring light in a positive way to what happened, even though they thought it was negative, he brought a positive energy to the situation,” Future told Big Boy’s Neighborhood.

The Atlanta rapper continued, “My didn’t even know who Emmett was. He thought I was talking about Emmett Smith… He raised awareness to people who didn’t even know Emmett Till, to young kids that never even knew what happened to him. There’s a lot of people who don’t understand.”

Okay. Future went on to assert that Weezy did not do the song to disrespect the Till family in any way. Wayne’s insensitive line indeed made more people aware of the Emmett Till tragedy. However, he did it in the completely wrong way. That’s exactly why Mountain Dew (PepsiCo) severed its ties with him, period. There is no way to positively spin that.

Recently, the producer of the “Karate Chop (Remix),” Metro Boomin, alleges that the version of the song with Weezy’s now infamous “Beat the pu–y up like Emmett Till” line was never supposed to be released.

Lil Wayne Parties With Chicago Bulls To Celebrate Game 1 Miami Heat Defeat

And just like that, another chapter is etched in the beef between Lil Wayne and the Miami Heat organization. This follows a spiteful move by Weezy Monday, May 5, after the Chicago Bulls defeated LeBron and Co. 93-86 in game one of the semi-finals in South Beach.

According to TMZ, the “No Worries” rapper spotted Bulls players Taj Gibson, Richard Hamilton, Vladimir Radmanovic and Nazr Mohammed partying at at Excess Mondays at Mansion nightclub in Miami. Sources say Wayne provided them with bottles of vodka, and told them he was rooting for them to beat the Heat. Is it that serious, bro?

Wayne’s issues with the Heat date back to being escorted out of a Heat/Lakers game in February. ”So I’m @ da Heat game right, rootin 4 da Lakers kuz dats my team & would u believe they got police 2 make me leave?! Wow! F#€k da Heat,” tweeted Tunechi after the fact.

Days afterward, Wayne shared his angst in a rant where he exclaimed “F**k LeBron, f**k She-Wade, f**k Chris Bosh, f**k all them ni**as, man,” and famously claimed to have slept with Bosh’s wife. The YMCMB artist has since recanted his statements toward James.

Lil Wayne Performs Surprise Set At Bamboo In Miami Beach [PHOTOS]

Lil Wayne‘s Miami pass has not been revoked. After celebrating the launch of his shoe company with Supra, called SPECTRE, on Friday, Weezy hit Miami Beach nightspot Bamboo last night and surprised guests with an impromptu performance.

The “Prestige Sunday” party also happened to be hosted by Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar, who was seen hanging out backstage with Weezy and YMCMB president/rapper Mack Maine.  Check out some photos from the night’s festivities, including Weezy rocking an OVO shirt courtesy of his homie Drake, in the gallery.

Trick Daddy & Lil Wayne To Have A Sit Down?

Are Lil Wayne and Trick Daddy going to make peace? Word is that Birdman is trying to schedule a meeting of the two rappers. Trick didn’t take too kindly to Weezy’s comments about Miami during his infamous rant against the Miami Heat, which led to a confrontation between the two at a strip club about a month ago.

TMZ reports:

Trick Daddy tells TMZ he’s open to a proposed sit-down with Lil Wayne to settle their feud … but what he’s actually doing is throwing gasoline on the fire.

In case you’re not up to speed … Lil Wayne went ballistic after a member of Trick’s posse allegedly flicked a cigarette in Wayne’s dreads at a Miami strip club.

Mr. Daddy isn’t copping to the incendiary move. Now here’s where it gets bad. Rather than trying to make things nice, Daddy’s logic is … “If I [wanted to start s**t with Lil Wayne] he would have been in the hospital for a different reason than a seizure.”

Trick is bitter … claiming Wayne’s gotten him blackballed from all the good strip clubs in Miami … and hey, now all that’s left are the butterface joints.

Finally … enter Birdman … who has the good sense to try and defuse the situation between the 2 feuding rappers by scheduling a sit-down happy meal.

Birdman … He’s like Dennis Rodman, without the North Koreans.

Things can go very well, or very bad if and when Lil Wayne and Trick Daddy do get together. No in between.

Rich Gang (Birdman ft. Lil’ Wayne, Future, Mack Maine & Nicki Minaj) – “Tap Out” [VIDEO]

We saw the photos, and now we get the video.  The Rich Gang, aka Birdman featuring Lil’ Wayne, Future, Mack Maine & Nicki Minaj, drop the official video for “Tap Out.”

The Rich Gang go about their rap business in plush mansion, rapping about “million dollar pu–y.” You gotta admit, there is something entertaining in watching Nicki Minaj and Future Stuggle Falsetto sing passionately about million dollar poom poom. Just saying.

This visual certainly had a good sized budget, with Kristina Milian, Kimora Lee Simmons and Paris Hilton appearing throughout. Yes, that Paris Hilton. Milian and Hilton play a server and bartender, who pull a heist, but only one manages to gets away. What this exactly has to do with the song is anyone’s guess—just roll with it.

YMCMB’s Rich Gang: Flashy Lifestyle compilation project is due in stores June 25. Watch the Hannah Lux Davis-directed video for “Tap Out” below.

Lil Wayne Launches SPECTRE Footwear Company In Miami [PHOTOS]

Lil Wayne, a known advocate of skateboarding, celebrated the launch of his new footwear company, SPECTRE, in Miami last night. The brand is a collaboration with SUPRA, a company also rooted in skateboard culture.

A list of industry figures and rapper friends came to support the YMCMB frontman. Among those in attendance were manager Cortez Bryant, Bun B, DJ Stevie J, Don Cannon, Mack Maine, skaters Chaz Ortiz, Stevie Williams and Chad Muska, and French MCs Booba and Gato. Those present didn’t overshadow the star of the event, the Chimera mid top, which will be the first of many shoes to release under SPECTRE May 18.

Guest were treated to a night as unpredictable as Weezy‘s persona. This includes the opportunity to receive complimentary tattoos by BJ Betts, who, for some odd reason, let Wayne tattoo him during the course of the night.

The New Orleans also announced that aforementioned skater Chaz Ortiz would be riding for SPRECTRE.

Weezy hasn’t had the best luck with endorsements lately, though. PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew dropped Wayne yesterday, because of the controversy surrounding his Emmett Till lyric on Future’s “Karate Chop.” Ouch!

See photos from the SPRECTRE event in the gallery below.

Emmett Till’s Family Does Not Consider Lil Wayne’s Letter An Apology

Lil Wayne‘s week isn’t going to too well. Yesterday, before we knew he had been treated and released from the hospital for yet another seizure, the YMCMB rapper revealed a letter he wrote addressed to Emmett Till’s family. Weezy acknowledges the hurt his now infamous “Beat the pu–y up like Emmett Till” lyric on Future’s “Karate Chop (Remix)” caused, but the Till family, like many others, have noted that he falls short of an actual apology.

Reports TMZ:

Nowhere in the letter did Wayne say he was sorry for what he did.

Visit Now, Airickca Gordon-Taylor – Executive Director, Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation and Till Family Representative — tells TMZ the family does not view the letter as a formal apology.

“While it’s commendable that he has vowed to respect the legacy of Emmett Till and his memory to ‘not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in his music,’ this statement falls short of an apology, as none is mentioned.”

We’re reaching out to Lil Wayne for comment — stay tuned.

It is the Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation that has vowed to urge Wayne’s business partners, like Mountain Dew which is a product of Pepsico, to drop the rapper if he doesn’t properly apologize.

Looks like a phone call, instead of a letter, may be in order, too.

Lil Wayne Suffers Another Seizure, Released From Hospital

Lil Wayne has got to chill. The YMCMB rapper has been hospitalized, and released, once again after suffering yet another seizure

TMZ reports:

Lil Wayne was hospitalized again for a seizure … TMZ has learned.

Sources close to Wayne tell us … the rapper was taken to Cedars-Sinai in L.A. late Tuesday night by his bodyguards.   We’re told he suffered a single seizure and was treated and released early this morning.

As we first reported, 30-year-old Lil Wayne spent a week at Cedars back in March after suffering multiple severe seizures that nearly killed him.  He spent 6 days in ICU.

Wayne subsequently went on the radio and explained he’s an epileptic, and has been suffering from seizures since he was a kid.

Earlier today, Weezy published a letter he sent to Emmett Till’s family, sort of apologizing for the disrespectful lyrics he spit on Future’s “Karate Chop (Remix).” Although the song was released way back in February, many have pointed out that Tunechi did not finally respond to criticism for the lyrics until the Till family threatened to pressure Mountain Dew to drop the rapper as a spokesman.

Lil Wayne is scheduled to headline the 2013 America’s Most Wanted tour, which kicks off July 9 in Birmingham, Alabama and runs all summer.

Lil Wayne Finally Apologizes To Emmett Till’s Family

This took long enough. Lil Wayne has penned a letter of apology to Emmett Till’s family over the use of the late 14-year-old’s name in a vile lyric on his verse from Future’s “Karate Chop (Remix).”

In said song, Weezy raps, “Beat the pu–y up like Emmett Till,” which angered the family and many aware of the significance of Till’s death to the Civil Rights Movement.

Besides mentioning that he understands the pain the family feels since he is a father himself, the YMCMB rapper acknowledges Till’s cultural significance in his letter. “I have tremendous respect for those who paved the way for the liberty and opportunities that African-Americans currently enjoy,” reads the letter. “As a business owner who employs several African-American employees and gives philanthropically to organizations that help youth to pursue their dreams my ultimate intention is to uplift rather than degrade our community.”

Wayen’s formal apology comes after the family vowed to pressure Mountain Dew to drop Tunechi as a spokesman. Till’s family wrote an open letter to Wayne back in February shortly after the song was first heard. In his letter, the “No Worries” rapper also vows to never perform the song. Coincidentally, or not, Mountain Dew just announced a deal with Complex Media to launch a new website.

What have we learned here? Rappers only respond to something when it can effect their pockets (see: Rick Ross).
